Daniel The
Prophet

At the time when
Jeremiah was warning the people in Jerusalem that Nebuchadnezzar would
return to destroy Jerusalem for their wickedness, Daniel was a Jewish
captive in Babylon. He had been taken there by Nebuchadnezzar when the
first group of Jews were taken captive in BC 606. Daniel was placed among
a group of Jewish captives whom Nebuchnezzar had appointed to be educated
in the ways of Babylon (Daniel 1). Daniel remained a captive in
Babylon throughout the 70 years’
captivity that
Jeremiah had foretold (Daniel 6:28; Jeremiah
25:8-12).

In the second chapter
of Daniel we read of a remarkable incident. Nebuchadnezzar had a dream,
the details of which impressed him greatly. He saw a great image of a man
whose head was of gold, his chest and arms of silver, his belly and thighs
of brass, his legs of iron and his feet part of iron and part of clay. He
then saw a stone smite the image on its feet so that it fell and was
broken to pieces. The stone then became a great mountain and filled the
whole earth. Nebuchadnezzar felt, in his superstition, that this was a
message regarding his future.

He called for his
magicians and astrologers to tell him both the dream and its
interpretation. Obviously they could not. However Daniel, by
God’s power, was able to tell the king both his
dream and its interpretation. He pointed out that God was revealing to
Nebuchadnezzar what was to happen "in the latter days" (Daniel 2:28). 王就召术士，让他们告诉他这梦与梦的解释，术士们做不到，然而但以理借着神的力量，先知了王这梦与梦的解析，他指出神已将尼布甲尼撒王“日后”必有的事指示给他（但以理书2：28）。

power and its work is clearly interpreted in verse 44 by Daniel when he says: "In
the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which
shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other

Roman legions overthrew the four divisions of the Greek Empire and

The Roman Empire was broken and divided
by the various powers of the north and east which included the
Vandals, the Goths, the Huns etc. Thus there has never been a power
to unite all the territory of the preceding world

This stone smashes and destroys the image and all its
components "together".
Thus Daniel
explains that in "the latter days" there will be a
unification of the powers ruling the territory of these old empires,
and that God will utterly destroy their united strength, replacing
them with His Kingdom. The stone power will then itself fill the
whole earth (verse 35) 这石头将这像的所有“一齐”打碎，因此但以理解释“日后”这些国与国将会统一，但神最终要将这统一打碎，代之以神的国。这“石头”的力量将充满世界（第35节） |
NOTE: Other prophets
tell of this "latter day" unification of the powers ruling the territory
of these Kingdoms from the Atlantic to the Indus River (eg Ezekiel 38). 注意：另些先知预言“日后”的一统王国的疆城将从大西洋到印度河（例以西结书38）。
Note these
interesting points: 注意解析中的几点：
1. God will set up a
Kingdom、神将另立一国。
2. This Kingdom
shall never be destroyed (as Babylon, Medo-Persia etc were)、这国将不会毁灭（和巴比伦，玛代波斯，等帝国不一样）。
3 The rulership of
this kingdom will not be left to the hands of man. Jesus Christ and his
immortal saints will administer the rulership of this
kingdom. 这国不由人手掌握，主基督耶稣和圣人们将管理这国。
4 God’s Kingdom under Jesus Christ will destroy all forms of
man’s political rule、神的王国将打碎人的所有政治统治。
5 It shall stand for
ever (2 Samuel
7:12-16;
Luke 1:31-33)、它将存在，直到永远（撒母耳记下7：12-16；路加福音1：31-33）。
So in this fascinating
dream and its interpretation we have the history of the world, from the
days of Nebuchadnezzar until the time when God will send Jesus Christ back
to set up God’s Kingdom on earth again. 所以，从这梦的解释中，我们见到了人类的历史，从尼布甲尼撒一直到主基督耶稣回归建立神的国。
This is the Kingdom
that Jesus taught his disciples to pray for when he said: "Thy kingdom
come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). We also read of this time
when Jesus Christ will rule the world: "The kingdoms of this world are
become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for
ever and ever" (Revelation
11:15).
这国就是耶稣教徒们祈祷的国：“愿你的国降临，愿你的旨意行在地上，如同行在天上”（马太福音6：10）。同时我们也见到了主耶稣要统治这世界：“世上的国成了我主和主基督的国，他要作王，直到永永远远”（启示录11：15）。
The prophet Daniel was
given several other visions that unveil the history of the world from BC
606 through to the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth (cp
Daniel 7:18, 22, 26-27).
先知但以理同时描述了公元前606年列神的国建立这段时间中的另一些景象（但以理书7：18，22，26-27）。
God Rules
in the Kingdom of Men

One of the fundamental
and very important lessons that we learn from the prophecies of Daniel is
that God is in control of world events, and is bringing them to His
foreordained conclusion. 从但以理的预言中，我们知道神掌握着人的王国，预先注定了结局。
In fact, Daniel so
impressed this lesson on the mind of Nebuchadnezzar that Nebuchadnezzar,
the ruler of the world at that time, stated: "And at the end of the
days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine
understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised
and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting
dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation. And all the
inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to
his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth:
and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?"

He declared this for,
as Daniel had told him: "The most High ruleth in the kingdom of men,
and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of
men" (Daniel 4:17). 他同时说：“这是守望者所发的命，圣者所出的令，好叫世人知道至高者在人的国中掌权，要将国赐于谁就赐于谁，成立极卑微的人执掌国权”（但以理书4：17）。
Daniel
Foretells Events at "the Time of the End" (Daniel
11:40-12:3)
但以理预言“末日”之事（但以理书11：40-12：3）
Daniel
not only gave a broad overview of world history culminating in the
establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth, but also spoke of those
events which will lead to the establishment of that Kingdom. He reveals
how, at "the time of the end" (v40), a military power designated
"the king of the north" will sweep down into the Middle East
through Israel and into Egypt. This northern power is identified as a
confederacy of nations led by Russia in Ezekiel 38. The main points that
Daniel notes are as follows:但以理不仅预言了神的国的建立，而且预言了建立之前的一些事，他预言将有“北方的国”在“末日”进攻中东的以色列与埃及，这股北方的势力在以西结书38中被认为是俄罗斯领导的诸国联盟。但以理的预言主要表现为以下几点：
- The events take

- Russia, leading
a united Euro-Russian attack, makes a swift military move into the
Middle East with a design to gain dominion over Egypt and Israel
(Daniel
11:40-43)

- The Russian
military might is destroyed in Israel (Daniel

- The righteous

Russia and
Israel in "the Latter Days"
“日后”的俄罗斯与以色列
These "latter day" prophecies regarding Russia and the Middle East
are also recorded in Ezekiel 38 and Zechariah 12 & 14.有关俄罗斯与中东在“日后”的预言同样记录于以西结书38和撒加利亚书12和14中。
In Ezekiel 38 this northern power is
defined. Here the prophet Ezekiel sees a confederacy of powers sweeping
down into Israel in "the latter days". When the description of the
powers involved is analysed we see that Russia is the power that leads
this great military campaign into the Middle East. However its moves are
challenged by Britain and those nations confederate with her at that time.
Thus all nations are gathered into military conflict in Israel when God
reveals His great power by sending Jesus Christ back to the earth. The
result of this is that the military power of Russia will be destroyed
"on the mountains of Israel" (Ezekiel 39:4), and God will be known "in
the eyes of many nations" (Ezekiel 38:23). 先知以西结见到在“日后”，有一股联盟的军进入以色列，我们通过分析可知这是由俄罗斯领导进入以色列的军事行动。然而这股联盟军遭到了英国及其联盟的反击，所以当神遣基督耶稣重临时，万国都卷入了争战，结果将是俄罗期的军队在“以色列的山上”被摧毁（以西结书39：4），神在“多国人的眼前”显现（以西结书38：23）。
A Summary
of Ezekiel 38以西结书38的总结
- The events spoken
of will occur in "the latter years" or "days" (v8,16)事将发生在“日后”（第8、16节）。
- The centre of the
predicted conflict will be the land of Israel (v8,18)冲突的中心将在以色列（第8、18节）。
- The Jews will be
partly regathered and established in their land (v8,12). This has only happened
since 1948 when Israel became a nation in their own land, after nearly
1900 years of dispersion through all nations. 部分犹太人回归重建家园（第8、12节），在将近1900年的分散后，1948年以色列在自己的地上重新立国。
- The northern army
or host (v15) will be led by Gog, of
the land of Magog, who is prince of Rosh (Russia), Meshech (Moscow),

- Confederate with
Russia will be Europe (Magog, Gomer) and Western Asia (Persia or Iran,

- The northern
invasion will be challenged by Tarshish and the young lions thereof
(v13). This refers to Britain

partners such as USA.

- Also allied with
Britain will be Sheba and Dedan (or Saudi Arabia and the Arabian

- At the height of
the conflict in the Middle East God will reveal His great power
(v18-19), by the return of the
Lord Jesus Christ (Zechariah
14:1-5;

- The result will
be that the military power of Russia will be destroyed (Ezekiel

know that Yahweh, Israel’s God,
is the God who has wrought this great victory (Ezekiel
38:23;

and acknowledge that Yahweh is their God (Ezekiel
39:7,

Daniel interpreted a remarkable dream that God gave
to Nebuchadnezzar. In this dream he saw an overview of
world history, culminating in the God of Heaven setting up
a Kingdom that will never be destroyed (Daniel
